2.12.2021 | The Government has submitted the Act on the guarantee of origin of energy to the President of the Republic for approval. The Act will make it easier for customers to influence the origin of the energy they are buying through a reliable system. With the guarantee of origin, consumers can trust that the energy marketed and sold to them as renewable is in fact produced from renewable energy sources. 1.11.2016 | On 1 November 2016, Finnish electricity transmission company Fingrid and its Swedish counterpart Svenska Kraftnät announced they were beginning preparatory work for a new, 800 megawatt transmission link between Finland and Sweden. The planned power line will run from Messaure in Sweden to Pyhäselkä in Finland, via Keminmaa. 5.1.2017 | Today's freezing cold weather caused Finland's power consumption to rise to the year's highest level. On 5 January 2017 between 8am and 9 am consumption was 14,042 MV. However, the electrical system is functioning in a normal manner, and the market price for electricity is quite low for today at an average of 44 euros per Mwh.
