The Act on Regional Development and the Administration of Structural Funds (7/2014) entered into force in 2014, and it governs regional development. The Act lays down the goals and programme work of regional development as well as the tasks of the authorities responsible. 9.9.2024 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has appointed two new tripartite working groups to draw up the Government's labour market reforms. One of the working groups will focus on those grounds for terminating employment that are related to the employee's person. 8.5.2025 | The Government submitted to Parliament its proposal for legislation supplementing the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) on 8 May 2025. It proposes to enact an act to monitor artificial intelligence systems and to amend the acts regarding market surveillance of products and enforcement of fines. 5.12.2023 | The consultation round concerning the changes to industrial peace legislation ended on 5 December 2023. In total, 53 comments were submitted. As part of further preparations, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will now analyse the feedback received. The ministerial working group on employment and entrepreneurship will discuss the reform still in December 2023. The Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will appoint a working group to support preparations on due diligence. 6.2.2025 | Due to the problems encountered in the wild berry sector, foreign berry pickers will enter Finland as seasonal workers from now on.
