1.3.2022 | The food industry has renewed its commitment to materials efficiency to promote more sustainable food production, distribution and consumption in 2022–2026. 28.10.2021 | On 28 October 2021, the Government proposed amendments to the Act on Support for Business Costs. The new round of business cost support will be allocated to tourism, restaurant and event companies in particular. The support will be granted by the State Treasury. 23.3.2021 | The Government proposes that the closure of restaurants continue for another three weeks until 18 April 2021. The closure would continue under the same conditions as the current closure, which is in force until 28 March 2021. 15.4.2021 | Restaurants and other food and beverage service businesses must remain closed to customers until Sunday 18 April 2021 in regions where it is necessary to stop the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic. 24.3.2020 | Finland is currently in a state of emergency because of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, and in order to prevent the spread of the virus, restaurants, cafés and licensed premises will be closed to customers as soon as possible. On 24 March 2020, the Government submitted a government proposal on the matter to Parliament, which will bring the matter into discussion immediately. 29.5.2020 | On 29 May 2020, the President of the Republic confirmed the act on support for job retention and re-employment and compensation for the restriction of activities for companies in the food and beverage service sector. In the first week of June, the Government will issue a decree on the entry into force of the new act. 8.5.2020 | On 8 May 2020, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal for an act on support for re-employment in the food and beverage service sector and on compensation for the restrictions on activities. 22.4.2021 | Business cost support is intended for companies whose turnover has decreased by more than 30% due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 22 April 2021, the Government issued a decree on the sectors that can apply for support without providing further justification.
