14.10.2024 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has granted a total of EUR 44,546,484 in investment aid to 12 projects under the national Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). Moreover, by a decision supported by the Ministerial Finance Committee on 3 October, EUR 28,048,200 was granted to Nordic Ren-Gas Oy for a large demonstration project on new energy technology.

14.6.2024 | On 14 June 2024, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment granted to nine different projects a total of EUR 46.4 million in RRF energy investment aid under the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland. Of the aid, EUR 24,553,932 will be allocated to three clean transition investments (REPowerEU) and EUR 21,864,440 to six energy infrastructure projects.

15.4.2024 | The call for applications on investment aid for energy infrastructure projects under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) has been opened. Applications will be accepted until the 15th of May 2024. The aid may be granted to companies and corporations for projects, where eligible costs exceed EUR 5 million. The investment aid available for projects is approximately EUR 35 million.

29.1.2024 | The REPowerEU call for applications in the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland (Recovery and Resilience Plan) has been launched. The call will close on 29 February 2024. Businesses and organisations can apply for financial support for energy investments that promote the clean transition. The call for applications includes approximately EUR 54.5 million in investment aid for projects where the eligible costs exceed EUR 5 million.

17.3.2022 | On 17 March 2022, the Government issued a decree on infrastructure support for the use of electricity, biogas and renewable hydrogen in transport between 2022 and 2025. The aim is to promote the use of these alternative fuels in road transport by supporting investments in the charging and gas refuelling network.

22.9.2022 | The European Commission has selected the projects of P2X Solutions Oy and Solar Foods Oy for a new European value chain for hydrogen economy, which will boost the production of clean hydrogen and develop new uses for hydrogen.

11.3.2022 | By the deadline of 4 March 2022, 86 applications were received in the first application round for energy investment aid under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. The investment aid is intended for energy solutions of the future that aim to achieve carbon neutrality and improve competitiveness, among other things. The total amount of aid applied for was EUR 1.65 billion.

4.10.2022 | On 4 October, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment made the first energy investment aid decisions under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan to promote clean energy solutions. Aid was granted to six projects totalling EUR 99.8 million.

15.7.2022 | On 15 July 2022, the European Commission approved up to EUR 5.4 billion of public support by fifteen Member States for projects to boost the production of clean hydrogen and the development of new uses of hydrogen. This public support is also expected to generate private investments of EUR 8.8 billion. Finland is one of the Member States participating in the project.

24.9.2021 | A draft government decree on aid for energy investments under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan in 2022–2026 is now complete. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is requesting comments on the draft at the Lausuntopalvelu.fi service by 20 October 2021.

16.12.2022 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has granted a total of EUR 119,196,068 to 16 clean energy projects under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.

20.12.2021 | The first application round for energy investment subsidies under the Sustainable Growth Programme for Finland will take place from 20 December 2021 to 4 March 2022. Funding will be available for energy infrastructure projects, new energy technology, production and storage of low-carbon hydrogen, carbon dioxide capture and use, and investments to reduce carbon use and electrify industrial processes.

Government resolution on entrepreneurship outlines objectives and measures aiming to create favourable conditions for businesses. 

15.6.2021 | The Real Time Economy project will create the conditions for companies to move to real-time economy. Invoices and receipts will be electronic, for example, and business information will be automatically transferred between different systems. Up-to-date information and its automated processing will increase productivity in both companies and public administration.

11.7.2022 | The distribution obligation of biofuel oil aims at replacing light fuel oil used especially in building-specific heating and machinery with biofuel oil. The draft amendments to the distribution obligation of biofuel oil and the Sustainability Act have been sent out for comments.

1.9.2021 | A new discretionary government grant will encourage municipalities to hire more social, health and education services experts at the Ohjaamo service points, where young people can seek help and guidance at a low threshold. The incentive model will strengthen the resources and multi-professional approach of the Ohjaamo service points, in accordance with the Government decision during the budget session in autumn 2020.

21.10.2021 | A state-owned special assignment company named Työkanava Ltd will be established in Finland. Its task is to promote the employment of people with partial work ability who are in the most difficult labour market position. The company would support their skills so that the people could find employment in the open labour market after working at Työkanava.
