EU haluaa estää markkinoiden keskittymistä vain suurimpien alustayrityksien haltuun. Digimarkkinasäädöksen viimeistely jatkuu teknisellä tasolla, mutta asetus astuisi mahdollisesti voimaan jo alkuvuodesta 2023. 

29.9.2025 | The EU’s Competitiveness Council will be held in Brussels on 29–30 September 2025. Finland will be represented by Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen (internal market and industrial policy matters) and Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto (research and innovation matters).

25.11.2021 | Digitaalisilla verkkoalustoilla on nykyään tärkeä rooli arjessamme. Tavalliset ihmiset pystyvät eri verkkoalustoilla esimerkiksi vertailemaan hintoja, tekemään ostoksia verkossa, katsomaan videoita ja päivittämään somekanaviaan. Pienille ja keskisuurille yrityksille suuret alustayritykset, eli niin sanotut kansainväliset digijätit, tarjoavat tehokkaan mahdollisuuden tavoittaa asiakkaita.

17.10.2025 | EU energy ministers will meet in Luxembourg on 20 October 2025. In the meeting, the aim is to approve the Council's general approach on the RePowerEU regulation to gradually phase out natural gas imports from Russia. The other main item on the agenda is to discuss the role of electrification as a driver of the EU’s competitive and clean transition. Finland will be represented at the meeting by the Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.

21.5.2025 | The EU’s Competitiveness Council will be held in Brussels on 22–23 May 2025. Finland will be represented by Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen (internal market and industrial policy matters) and Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman (research, innovation and space matters).

11.3.2025 | The EU Competitiveness Council (internal market and industry) will meet in Brussels on 12 March 2025. Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will represent Finland at the meeting.

22.5.2024 | The EU ministers responsible for competitiveness will meet in Brussels on 23–24 May 2024. Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will be Finland’s representative at the meetings of the ministers responsible for space, research and innovation on 23 May. Meanwhile, Minister of Employment Arto Satonen will represent Finland at the internal market and industry meetings on 24 May.

25.9.2024 | Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will attend a formal meeting of EU competitiveness ministers in Brussels on 26 September 2024. The ministers will discuss the future of European competitiveness and the development of state aid.

4.9.2025 | The EU’s energy ministers will hold an informal meeting of ministers in Copenhagen on 4–5 September 2025. The key issues on the agenda include the future of Europe’s energy architecture after 2030, extensive deployment of clean technologies, and development of energy infrastructure. Finland will be represented by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.

1.12.2022 | The EU competitiveness ministers will convene for the last Competitiveness Council meeting of the year in early December. At the internal market and industry meeting, the ministers aim to reach a general approach on corporate sustainability due diligence and the Chips Act. Meanwhile, the research and innovation meeting is expected to adopt conclusions on a new European innovation programme.

28.9.2022 | The EU competitiveness ministers will meet in Brussels on 29 September 2022 to discuss internal market and industrial policy issues. The ministers will debate the resilience of the EU’s internal market and ecological design of products. Minister of Employment Tuula Haatainen will represent Finland at the meeting.

31.8.2021 | As part of its Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2021, Finland will organise the Council’s ministerial meetings. Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will chair three meetings of the Nordic Council of Ministers for Sustainable Growth. The meetings of ministers in charge of economic affairs and regions will take place on 16 September, while energy ministers will convene on 17 September. All meetings will be organised as hybrid meetings from Helsinki.  

5.3.2024 | The European Parliament, the Council and the Commission have reached a provisional political agreement on a proposal for a regulation prohibiting products made with forced labour on the Union market. Each EU institution still needs to adopt the regulation in accordance with its own procedures.

1.3.2023 | The EU ministers responsible for competitiveness will discuss the internal market and ways to improve the Union’s competitiveness. Ministers will seek to adopt general approaches on a proposed directive concerning distance marketing of financial services and on a proposed regulation on short-term accommodation rental services.

17.6.2021 | The European Commission is proposing new ways of tackling subsidies granted by non-EU governments that distort competition in the internal market. Finland supports the aims of the proposal calling for level playing field for businesses that receive foreign subsidies and for businesses that do not. The rules must be clear and predictable.

6.3.2025 | On 6 March 2025, the Government decided on the allocation of funds under ‘Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021–2027’, the EU’s Regional and Structural Policy Programme, for 2025. At the same time, the Government made decisions on the allocation of funds from the 2021–2027 Interreg programmes for 2025.
