1.7.2025 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has appointed a working group of public officials to assess legislation concerning plants handling dangerous chemicals and explosives which are important for national defence. Due to the changed security environment in Finland, the processing of licence applications, disclosure obligations and data processing of these plants will be evaluated.

26.6.2025 | The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has sent out for comments the draft of the new Nuclear Energy Act. Primarily, the new act aims to ensure that the use of nuclear energy is in line with the overall good of society, that the operations are safe and that nuclear waste generated in Finland is handled properly.

25.3.2022 | A report that evaluates the activities, services and implementation of digitalisation projects at the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has been completed. The report includes recommendations for both Tukes and the ministries steering its activities to develop the agency's activities in the future.

6.5.2021 | The European Commission has updated the EU Industrial Strategy to take better account of the circumstances and needs following the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim is to make use of the lessons learned from the pandemic, to strengthen businesses' ability to adapt to changing circumstances and to accelerate the green and digital transitions, which will create more jobs. The Commission published the updated Strategy on 5 May 2021.
