Nästan 90 procent av de uppsagda från Microsoft har hittat en ny karriär – även flera nya teknikföretag har uppstått
Lyckade projekt, samarbete och stöd från Europeiska globaliseringsfonden har resulterat i att de som sagts upp från Microsoft placerat sig väl på arbetsmarknaden.
Fem olika metoder användes för att uppnå målet att de uppsagda snabbt skulle få nytt jobb eller inleda en ny karriär: rådgivningstjänster (arbets- och näringsbyråerna), digitalisering inom redan verksamma företag (Tekes Digiboost), lockande av nya investeringar till Finland (Invest in Finland) och startande av nya företag samt upprätthållande och utveckling av kompetensen (programmet Polku och Europeiska globaliseringsfonden).
– Man har lyckats väl med målet att de uppsagda snabbt skulle sysselsättas på nytt. Efter ett mycket svårt utgångsläge har det också kommit mycket positiva nyheter, när erfarna experter har skapat nya it-företag i Finland och därmed effektiviserat digitaliseringens framskridande, säger näringsminister Mika Lintilä.
Programmet Polku har stött företagande
Microsoft startade under 2015 upp programmet Polku för att stödja uppsagda arbetstagare i att hitta nytt jobb eller starta företag. Att delta i programmet Polku var frivilligt, och det var öppet för deltagare i nio månader efter att arbetsskyldigheten upphört. Programmet erbjöd stöd till 205 företag och så mycket som 11 procent av de uppsagda blev företagare. Av de uppsagda har 55 procent deltagit i den omställningsutbildning som ordnats i samarbete mellan bolaget och arbets- och näringsbyråerna.
– Vi är nöjda över att så många av våra tidigare kolleger har kunnat skaffa sig ett nytt jobb med hjälp av Polku-programmet. Programmet har fått mycket beröm av såväl deltagare som utomstående, säger Rilla Hiillos, som är direktör för Microsofts Polku-programmet.
Stödet från Europeiska globaliseringsfonden har gett goda resultat för över 80 procent av deltagarna
För att stödja utbildning för de som sagts upp användes finansiering från Europeiska globaliseringsfonden (EFG). Finland hör till de länder som varit flitigast med att utnyttja stödet från fonden, och EFG-stöd har redan använts i tio projekt.
Drygt 80 procent av de som deltagit i EFG-stödda projekt var sysselsatta eller i utbildning i augusti 2017. Sysselsättningen av experter inom det digitala området och digitalisering inom befintliga företag har stötts genom programmet Digiboost.
– Microsoft har burit sitt samhällsansvar väl i situationen. Microsofts egna åtgärder och de EFG-finansierade åtgärderna har kompletterat varandra. Samarbetet har fungerat exemplariskt i alla riktningar, säger arbetsminister Jari Lindström.
Sommaren 2015 meddelade Microsoft om en strategiförändring inom affärsverksamheten för mobila enheter, och följande år meddelades att bolaget Microsoft Mobile Oy lägger ned sin verksamhet. Över 3 000 personer förlorade då sitt jobb. Personalminskningarna drabbade verksamhetsställena i Tammerfors, Esbo och Salo, men indirekt hade de konsekvenser för hela Finland. Regeringens och Microsofts mål var att de som förlorat sitt jobb snabbt skulle sysselsättas på nytt.
